Laziness: Laziness (also known as indolence) is disinclination to activity or exertion despite having the ability to act or to exert oneself. It is often used as a pejorative; terms for a person seen to be lazy include "couch potato", "slacker", and "bludger".
Messy: Not clean or tidy. : carelessly made or done : not careful or precise. : causing or involving a mess : likely to make something dirty or sticky.
Negative: A word or statement that expresses denial, disagreement, or refusal.
The words paired with the description listed above are those all classified under the characteristics of a lazy individual. Humans are designed to move, not stay still. Millions of years hunting, farming and intense manual labour have shaped our bodies to their current form. Inactivity in children leads to obesity and reduced academic performance across all socio-economic classes.
Given the significant associated mortality and morbidity, it's propose that perhaps physical inactivity should also be considered for recognition as a disease in its own right.
What are some reasons for being lazy? None in my personal opinion however here are some excuses.
1. One of the hidden causes of laziness can be certain medical conditions. If you’re often tired, overwhelmed, exhausted, and unmotivated. Your thyroid or testosterone might be to blame for this.
2. Purpose is essential to give your life meaning. If you don’t have any goals, you won’t be motivated to do anything. Maybe you’ve been let down by some experiences or things are just too complex or difficult. You turn to laziness because it’s a safe and quiet refuge.
4. Your family and / or friends will have a huge contributor to this. If you surround yourself by " sharks " and " early risers " then chances are it will rub off on you. If you surround yourself by alcoholics then chances are you will begin to indulge more which is why WHO you surround yourself is just as important as your goals and ambitions.
3. Other factors that can lead to ‘laziness’ are fear and hopelessness. Some people fear success, or do not have enough self-esteem to feel comfortable with success, and laziness is a way of sabotaging themselves.
Lately articles are being released that we are hardwired to be lazy and it is a natural movement for us to rest or be the common coach potato. Others will argue that our jobs have become more mentally demanding with requiring us to be constantly " on call " to all clients by either phone, text or email.
The facts stand however that we as a society are becoming less active all around but in turn this planet still possesses the early rising entrepreneurs and athletes of the century. So let me ask you, What do you choose to be? The person who hits snooze 10 times over or the person who decides to take full potential of life?
